The charming holiday region Val Gardena, called Gröden in
German, is a delightful spot in the south-eastern part of South Tyrol
that is thrice blessed with natural beauty.
No matter if you come here in
summer or in winter, the scenic valley in the heart of the magic
Dolomites will amaze you all the year round. There are various exciting
and thrilling ways to explore these almost untouched natural landscapes.
Pleasant walks along the bottom of the valley or adventurous tours in the low
and high mountain ranges are offered to hikers, rock climbers and
mountain bikers. Whether you decide to ride your bicycle over hill and
dale or rather hike with your backpack and rugged footwear from one mountain
pasture to the next – either way, the aestival Val Gardena will make your eyes
sparkle with joy.
In winter, when the dazzling whiteness of the snow
covers the luscious meadows, the dense treetops and the mighty peaks like fine
sugar, the summer holiday destination turns into a real winter sports paradise.
With over 175 km of ski pistes, highly modern cable cars and a
stunning mountain scenery, the ski region Val Gardena - Alpe di Siusi
is one of the most striking skiing areas in the Alps. The absolute highlight of
the winter season is the traditional World Cup event in
December: the Super G and the spectacular downhill run along the notorious “camel
back” of the Saslong piste. But also away from the ski pistes,
the Val Gardena is a very appealing place: when the scent of hot wine can be
smelled in the alleys of the villages Ortisei, Selva
and Santa Cristina, when carvers put there artwork up for sale,
and when a romantic touch of magic can be sensed in the entire valley, the time
has come when everyone understands why the Val Gardena is one of South Tyrol's
most beautiful holiday destinations.
